SALTA

Salta, comprising residential, retail and commercial elements, forms Node 6 of the greater Sibaya Precinct Development on Kwa-Zulu Natal’s North Coast. STRUXIT was tasked to design the extensive infrastructure to serve Node 6, which is located on a 183ha site with 120ha of land available for development.

STRUXIT took a proactive approach to the infrastructure, which included 13.6km of roads, 17.7km of sewer pipes, 15.9km of stormwater pipes, and 17.8km of water pipes; as well as upgrades to four provincial bridges and 5km of provincial roads. In total 450,000m3 cut-to-fill material was required. The most challenging factor was the soil condition, which varied significantly across the site and required us to adapt our detailed designs as we built. These conditions made the site management and the balancing of material even more difficult – but our relentless drive to deliver our information on time, every time, together with a highly collaborative approach, allowed us to execute the project to our client’s satisfaction.
